2007-2008

What opportunities are available?
Who can participate?

Everyone, Kindergarten-adult is encouraged to take part to provide music for worship!

What are the requirements?

The only pre-requisite is a desire to learn and share music for worship. There are NO fees, contracts or auditions required. We also accommodate flexible schedules.

When do groups practice?
How often do groups sing/play for worship?

This varies with each group. Schedules are sent out early in the year so you can plan accordingly. Soloists and instrumentalists play as schedules permit.

Who is responsible for leading these groups?

Handbells are led by Michelle Schlicht, Praise Kids by Victoria Lowe, Ring & Sing by Cynthia McLaren, and Joyful Noise Singers by Bruce Larson.

Why should musical involvement in worship be a priority for me and my family?

Statistics prove that having a strong foundation in the songs of the church helps to ensure participation as an adult. As parents, we have a tremendous influence on our children, also on their decisions and what they tend to see as valuable and important. What we support, they are usually willing to pursue, and what we encourage and give priority to, they continue to consider important as well. Giving glory to God with our musical offerings is a great gift!

As music programs continue to be scaled back in our schools, the Church can help to fill this gap by providing training and opportunities to sing/play.

A Biblical point to ponder ...

The conclusion of the book of Deuteronomy tells the last days of Moses. As the end drew near, God expressed to Moses his concern that after their earthly leader's death, the people would forget their God. God didn't tell Moses to write a book, preach a sermon, or draw a picture. Rather, he told Moses to write a song and teach it to the people. This ancient advice is just as relevant today! We need to teach hymns and sing to our children!
