Mission trips have a goal of service to fellow human beings, spiritual enrichment,
and Christian fellowship.
Past mission trips:
- July, 2007, 9th Grade youth traveled to Red Lake Nation
in Northern Minnesota.

Senior high youth went to St. Louis, Missouri.

- July, 2006, Senior High Mission Trip was to Logan, West Virginia, in Appalachia, an area of cultural
richness, but dire poverty.
- In July, 2005, Senior High youth Mission Trip was to Juarez, Mexico, doing some home construction
and some Bible School work.
- In July, 2004, Senior High youth traveled to Philadelphia, PA, the 5th biggest city in the nation, for
a variety of service projects in the areas of homelessness, hunger, and poverty, and stretching our faith.
- In June, 2004, 9th Grade youth traveled to Toronto, Canada's biggest city and participated in
a program called TOOLS, service and learning about the circumstances of poverty and marginalization,
working with a food bank, homeless shelter, kid's program, and soup kitchen.
- In 2003 a group went to Winnipeg, CA.
- In '02 the Senior High went to Pine Ridge Reservation in SD to paint, wash cars, build, clean,
and learn with the Oglala Lakota people.
- In '02 the ninth graders went to Chicago to work with the soup kitchen/beacon of hope called the
Marquard Center.
- In '02 the seventh graders went to Minneapolis to work and play with the kids who live at Mary's Place.
- In '01, a group went to Chicago where they worked with a church in a housing project called
Cabrini Green. They led a vacation bible school for the kids and did various work projects for the church.
- In '01, a group again went to Dupree, SD to do similar work as in '00.
- In '00 the mission trip went to a small town located on the Cheyenne Indian Reservation in
South Dakota called Dupree. Service projects there included building a playground behind the church and
ministering to the children by washing their feet and giving them new shoes and school-supplies.
- In '99 the youth traveled to Caroline Furnace Lutheran Bible Camp in the state of Virginia.
They helped to build a new log chapel, did general upkeep projects, helped with forest conservation projects,
and participated in camp life.
- In '98 Rebecca went with the youth to Wiarton, Ontario in Canada to do landscaping and cleaning for
St. Paul Lutheran Church.
- In '97 Pastor Chris and Rebecca lead the youth on a trip to New York, New York to work in
Trinity Lower East Side's Soup Kitchen.
- In '96 Pastor Chris went with the youth to Colorado to help build a house for Habitat for Humanity.
- In '95 Pastor Chris lead the youth on a trip to Kentucky to build houses.
- 1994 - Luther Park Bible Camp in Chetek, Wisconsin.
Mission trips were started at GSC in 1995 by then youth pastor Chris Brekke.
