Present: George Price, Mary Jones, Cynthia McLaren, Pastor Tom Hanson, Bruce Larson

                                                                                                                                Next Meeting:

                                                                                                                                Date:  05/15/06  Time: 5:30 p.m.

General Agenda Items

1)      Summer (Outdoor) Services – Outdoor service will be held at 8:00 am this summer, with indoor service at 9:30 am.  Discussed outdoor service and decided we will need to following: 1 Lector, 1-2 Ushers, 1 Communion Assistant.  Will also need music volunteers.  George will contact Mike to create a sign-up sheet and place in narthex for set-up and teardown volunteers.  Also note volunteers needed in the bulletins & Happynings.  George will contact Vicky regarding sending a letter to the music and set-up volunteers from last year to see if interested in helping this year.

2)      Holy Week / Easter Services – Pastor Tom went over the order of services for Holy Week with the Worship Committee.  Noted Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Vigil are a three-part continual service.   Children receiving first communion will occur at Maundy Thursday service.

3)      Prayer Request List – Had discussion on current use & determined no changes needed.

4)      Dry Well – Worship Committee decided placement for dry well will be across the sidewalk from the air conditioner by the office entrance.  Use of dry well will be discussed with Vicky upon completion.  (Dry well will be used to pour the remaining wine into after each service.)

5)      Piano Bench – New piano bench has arrived and is working out well.

6)      Communionware – Pastor Tom supplied pictures of chalices and cup cabinets used at his family’s church.  Mary Jones forwarded the chalice pictures to our chalice maker to view.  Discussed showing pictures to some of our woodworking members about building cabinets for our use.

7)      New Hymnal – Cynthia displayed sample of new hymnal, “Evangelical Lutheran Worship”. Discussed number of new hymnals needed to be order; felt 250 to 300 would be a good supply.  If order placed by October 2, 2006, we would save $3.50/hymnal and would have a 12-month period to pay for the order with no interest or finance charges.   Discussed possibility of having members buy a hymnal for $20/each as a gift to the church or as a memorial.  George will take to Council; if they approve the go-ahead to purchase, will ask Michelle Saack to set-up a dedicated account for this purchase.

Agenda Items Needing Assistance from Council:

1) Purchasing New Hymnals
