POSITION TITLE: Youth
Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Lead Pastor, Church Council
Position Concept:
Provide leadership in the area of youth and family ministry at Good Shepherd Church
and in the broader Rochester Community.
Establish and maintain youth programs that are positive and create a
safe environment building faith and friendships. Participate in various congregational
meetings/events as necessary demonstrating enthusiasm toward the success of the
congregation, its mission and its vision.
Responsibilities
1. Plan gatherings for Senior High Youth (grades 9-12) one evening per week (ie. Wednesday Nights, 7-9pm). Develop a positive environment with activities which will help to develop faith and friendships.
2. Stay actively involved and in touch with the senior high youth of the congregation via weekly email, event mailings, and phone calls.
3. Be a part of the Youth Committee to plan events, network with parents, establish goals and build support for programming.
4. Coordinate and publicize youth activities and programs with enthusiasm.
5. Coordinate youth and family events/outings for Senior High Youth once a month and Junior High Youth once every 6 weeks.
6. Help develop leadership skills with youth, actively involving them in the planning and implementation of events. Maintain and establish a calendar of youth events/gatherings to assist youth and families in planning ahead.
7. Provide personal care and ministry for the youth in ways that help their faith develop.
8. Lead/help plan at least one summer mission trip annually.
9. Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings.
10. Annual Salary/Benefits: $15,000
based on the hours worked with the youth in the church, retreats, special
events on weekends, and mission trips, averaging 80 hours per month.
