Calling all confirmed GSC Members! There will be a congregational meeting on
Sunday, September 23rd at 11:45 a.m. in the Sanctuary. We will be discussing and voting on forming a
Call Committee who will start the Call process for a second full-time pastor. We hope to see you there!
Did you know
that between 15 and 37 people utilized one of Rochester’s homeless shelters
every night of the year? Did you know
that from 1991 to 2006 the number of homeless families in Minnesota tripled?
Did you know that area shelters last year served 8,227 men, women and
children? Did you also know that you could
directly have an impact on this very important issue?
On Friday October 19th Good Shepherd will be
participating in the 2007 Card Board Box City at Soldiers Field. We really want you to be part of this
important event. Here is an opportunity
to understand the challenges faced every day by Rochester’s homeless population,
and at the same time make a huge contribution to this important
cause.
Enclosed you will find a registration form for Cardboard Box
City 2007. The amount each participant
will need to raise is $100 to pay the “rent” for the night. Please ask friends, neighbors, and family
members to help. We will be having two
events to help raise funds as well.
First on October 7th we will be having a pizza box fundraiser
where you can help sell and bake pizzas.
If you participate a portion of the proceeds will go to help pay your
“rent”. Then on October 14th
we will have a box-signing event at GSC, where congregation members will pay to
help sponsor your participation by paying to sign your box.
Here are the details:
·
Registration forms need to be turned into Mike at the office
by October 12th
·
If you turn in your registration form by September 23rd
Good Shepherd will buy you a Cardboard Box City 2007 sweatshirt.
·
Your $100 “Rent” money must turned in by October 14th. continued
on Page 2 >
·
If you are unable to raise the “Rent” payment do not let
that stop you from participating, GSC can assist you see Jeff Brown for
details.
·
We will be having a meeting for all participants on Sunday
October 14th, following the box signing after 2nd service
in the youth room.
Participation in this event can earn you 8 community service
hours; it can count toward science outside requirements, and can also help you
do Gods work in serving others.
We really hope that you will participate! Give us a call
with any questions.
