Vision Team FAQ PART THREE:

WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHEN YOU SAY
CORE VALUES

The Vision Team will be crafting a statement of Mission, Vision and a list of Good Shepherd’s Core Values.  In the past two weeks we have explored our understanding of church Mission and Vision statements.  This week we will look at our definition of congregational Core Values.

Core values are a list of biblically based central values that undergird and guide the congregation’s life and organization.  Values are the nonnegotiable characteristics we want reflected in our life.  When we consider values, we are determining who we want to be… that is, the kind of character we wish to develop.  Values define individuals as well as congregations.

Mission gives purpose.  Vision gives direction.  Values give character.  Values convey who we are: the parameters we have set for ourselves in terms of ethical, moral, theological and personal beliefs.

Our values become the filter through which we determine right from wrong, value from worthlessness and importance from insignificance.

Looking Ahead:

At worship this month the Vision Team will be sharing “Ah ha!” moments from their summer of study and prayer and will be available for conversations following each service.  Also – don’t forget to SAVE THE DATES – September 30 at 5pm and October 14 at 5pm when we will have our congregational vision dinners.  Each session will be different… plan on attending both nights if at all possible.  These will be important times for us to gather as a faith family and get a clearer picture of the ministry God would have us do together.  As always, please keep the ministry of Good Shepherd Church in prayer as we seek to faithfully follow Jesus in discipleship and ministry.

In Christ,

The Good Shepherd Vision Team

Pastor Dave, Jeff Brown, Kelly Curtis, Alex Dearborn, Paula Freitag, Dave Herder, Jenny Jaeger, Jenny Kruse, Pam Peterson, George Price, Heather Willman

Nursery Update

Hello all! It was great to see so many people stopping in to the nursery this past Sunday!  I wanted to tell you about something new I am trying in the nursery.  As I mentioned in last week’s newsletter, I will be changing the bulletin boards each month.  One of the bulletin boards in the nursery is devoted to a theme for the month.  This month’s theme is “God Loves Me.”

Along with the bulletin board, there will be a parent handout with different ways to share the month’s theme with your children.  Nursery attendants can also take a look at a binder I am putting in the nursery regarding each month’s theme and activities that can be done while the kids are in the nursery.

I also want to let you know that it’s not too late to make a donation to the nursery through the Target registry.  You can look at it online or at the store with the mother’s name being Good Shepherd.  Designated nursery fund donations are also always welcome.

Thank you for your support,

Tracy Tollefson, Nursery Coordinator
