Adult Forums

Mark your calendars now to attend a pair of informative adult forums at GSC during the next two weeks.  Jo Spees will be at Good Shepherd on December 10 to discuss the Dorothy Day program at 9:30am.  On December 17, Pastor Jack and Ruth Friedli will present a forum called “The Challenge of Rebuilding After Disaster.”  Pastor Jack and Ruth will share experiences from their recent mission trip to Slidell, Louisiana.

Habitat 2007 Calendar

This past October Rochester Area Habitat for Humanity dedicated their Youth United house; a house built with manpower and funds raised by youth in the local community.  Several youth and adults from our congregation helped with the building.  Now RAHH is fundraising for the second house (building to start in Spring).  You can help by purchases a 2007 Habitat calendar for $18.  Included in the calendar are 19 pages of coupons from over 20 local businesses!  Get yours on Sunday at the youth rolls table.

To Chad and Jennifer Ridgeway on their birth of their son, August, on November 30th.  August shares a birthday with his dad, and will be welcomed home by big brother Stanley.

St. Louis Mission Trip Meeting

Come to our informational meeting for the St. Louis Mission Trip on Sunday, December 10th at 12:15pm in room O.  Over the week of July 22 - 27 we will be doing service in the great city of St. Louis, MO with other folks from YouthWorks!  This trip is for students currently in grades 10-12.  Stay tuned for the dates of our 9th grade mission trip. www.gscyouth.com/stlouis.html

7th & 8th Grade  Day

Not buying into the Playstation 3 craze?  Gather with us on Wednesday, December 6th to celebrate the joys and wonders of the x-box.  We play from 3pm – 5pm.  If you have an x-box or x-box 360 that you’d like to bring please talk with Mark.  Only games rated Teen.

7th & 8th Grade Retreat

Come spend part of your weekend with friends at Good Earth Village.  There promises to be great sledding, games, discussions, movies, star gazing, and all manner of winter camp fun.  Things happen on January 12-13 (Friday to Saturday).  Cost of the retreat is $20.  This retreat is optional.  Look for more information in the mail sometime this week.

This newly forming small group focuses on caring activities in the church and community such as phone calls, cards, support services such as meals, household repairs, etc..  Meeting times TBD.

Faith in Motion (Contact Tim Fynskov 288-3607)
This group meets to encourage physical activity.   May - October we meet at Hy Vee South cafeteria for walking and bicycling.   November - March we meet at the church to discuss, plan, and/or demonstrate other activities that encourage a healthier lifestyle, conditioning, strength building, flexibility, etc. Meets weekly at GSC, Saturday’s at
8:00am.

Guys – need a coffee break?  Come join this group for some caffeine and discussion.  Meets weekly at Panera South.

Sisters in Faith (Contact Beth Krolak 288-2190)

A Bible Study Group for Women broken up into 6 – 8 week sessions. The group focuses on learning, laughing, sharing, and growing in faith.  Meets weekly at GSC.

Young Adults Small Group (Contact Pastor Dave or Mark Hannan at 289-1748).This group is designed for folks in their 20s and 30s.  Activities include watching short films, having discussions, making faith and life connections, eating food and hanging out.  This group will be meeting on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 7:00pm at the home of Michelle & Erik Schlicht.

A Musical Celebration

We continue to celebrate the birth of Jesus with a service of special music provided by the Senior choir and chimes. This is the only worship service this morning and there will be no Sunday School today.

*3 and 4 year olds should meet in their classroom at 9:15.  The brief program will be in the Fellowship hall at 9:30, followed by treats and activities for pre-schoolers and their guests.  There will NOT be Sunday School for pre-school on Dec. 17.

 

**Any youth musicians interested in playing an instrumental prelude for this program are encouraged to call Cynthia (289-1748) by Dec. 15.  Please consider this opportunity to share your gifts! 

 

***Families (parents, youth and children)  are invited to sing for this service.  Please call Cynthia (289-1748) by Dec. 1 to indicate your interest.  We will schedule one rehearsal to prepare for this service.
