Rochester Area Habitat For Humanity

IHN Week at Good Shepherd

GSLC is hosting Interfaith Hospitality Network the week of December 3-10. A sign-up sheet for volunteers is in the narthex. We serve as a host church to provide temporary shelter and meals to homeless families. We use our building for overnight shelter and provide meals for up to 14 people for one week at a time, four times a year. Two buddy churches, Evangel Methodist and Resurrection Catholic, partner with us to staff for a host week (50 volunteers).

Giving Tree

GSLC's traditional Giving Tree is in place. Pick gift tags from the tree and purchase gifts for clients of Circle Center or Crisis Nursery. Crisis Nursery provides crisis child care (ages 0-12) available to any Olmsted County family. Circle Center provides support services for adults with severe and persistent mental illness. The staff at Circle Center choose individuals who are not receiving gifts from other holiday giving programs and who have a need.  Staff creates the "wish list" by requesting items which clients need and also take into account hobbies they may have. They do not tell clients ahead of time. Upon receipt of the gifts the staff delivers the special packages to the client's home. They are always surprised, grateful and appreciative.

Volunteer Opportunity

Curt and I have been volunteering a few hours each month doing food pickup for Community Food Response. Curt is no longer able to do it, so I would like to find another person to help me or two other people to take over our route. We do our pickup on the fourth Monday of the month; it takes about two hours in the early afternoon. You must be able to do some lifting. If you have questions or would like to help, please contact me by phone at 507-281-5688 or by e-mail at jaccola@chartermi.net. Julia Accola.

Pictorial Directory

Pictorial Directory, Part II

Also, any families submitting photos need to have them in the office by November 30.  We can only submit nine (9) more at no cost.  If you submit after the first nine, there is a $10 charge.  Submitted photos will not be returned.  They must be glossy (not matte) 3 x 5 or 4 x 6, or on a disc.  Professional photos must be accompanied by a release form, which can be found in the church office.  Call Mike at 289-1748 with any questions.
