The last day to register in person at GSLC will be Sunday, Oct. 22.  Online registrations will continue through next week.

To register online, follow these directions:

1. Go to the website, www.goodshepherdchurch.net

            2. Click on the church directory icon

            3. Follow directions to the right

Note: If you include you email address, you will get both a confirmation and reminder email of your appointment.  You can rest assured that your email address is never given out to anyone.  Online sign-ups will not be available on October 21 & 22, before resuming on Monday, October 23.

College Age Ministry

The College Age Ministry group at GSLC met this month and will be sending postcards to students in college.  At the Wednesday, Nov. 8 meeting, the group will plan to make college survival kits.  Parents! Fundraising Roll Call

Wanna fundraise for a ski trip, retreat, or mission trip?  There are a couple of fundraising opportunities that are happening in the next couple of weeks.

1) Make and sell rolls in between Sunday services.  Get involved by signing up for a weekend (limit 2) on the youth bulletin board.

2)  Help with our Sunday Pizza & Game Fundraiser (Vikings vs. Packers) on November 12.

3)  Talk with Mark or Mike to get signed up on our GSC babysitting list which we will make available to members in search of a trustworthy babysitter.

Young Adult Small Groups Starting!

Good Shepherd is launching one or two faith/life discussion small groups for people in their 20’s and 30’s.  We will watch short films, have discussions, make faith and life connections, eat food and hang out.  Are you interested?  Please contact Mark Hannan or Pastor Dave at the church office.

GSLC Choirs – Still time to join up

It’s not too late to join one of the choirs here at GSLC.  With the fall sports seasons wrapping up, we would love to welcome any new singers who would like to join the fun.  Call Cynthia at 289-1748 for more information.

Hurricane Cleanup Trip

Some of you have been asking about an opportunity to go south to work with Lutheran Disaster Response in the hurricane cleanup effort. Here is the opportunity we have put together. Good Earth Village is organizing a group to go from November 11-19. We will be going to Slidell, La. where we will be hosted by Peace Lutheran Church. Cost is $250/person and covers all expenses.  Contact Ruth Friedli at 288-1471 to sign up.

Lutheran Women Today Bible Study

A few women have been gathering on a designated Monday each month at the home of Loretta and Wally Berglund for fellowship and study.  The group uses the study from the Lutheran Woman Today magazine.  This month, the meeting will be on Oct. 30 at 6:30pm.  Please watch the Happynings and Bulletins to find out the date and time for each month’s meeting.  October’s study is “A God of Relationship.”  The Berglund’s address is 3504 Fairway Ridge Ln, Apt. 206 (near the intersection of W. Circle Drive & 2nd St. SW).  Questions? Contact Sheryl Nassif 289-0129, Mary Olson 529-1314 or Sharon Cadwell 288-7064.

Interfaith Hospitality Network Training

If you have not attended training or wish to attend a refresher, there will be a training session for IHN volunteers on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 7:00pm at Church of the Savior (971 16th Street SE).  GSLC will host IHN guests on Dec. 3-10.  Contact Joann Holt-Angerman (843-4641) or Paul Willemssen (288-8069) with any questions.

Supersize Your Gift

From now until November 30th, your gift to Good Earth Village will be matched in multiple ways.  Our camp has gift matching opportunities available through Security Bank Minnesota of Albert Lea / Emmons and the Carl and Verna Schmidt Foundation of Rochester / St. Peter, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, and a special Board of Directors Challenge.  You can determine whether it should be for Debt Retirement or the Annual Fund.  For more information, contact Dave Herder, Executive Director at 507-346-2494 or Dave@GoodEarthVillage.org.  This is a special opportunity for our camp.  Please consider sending a gift to Good Earth Village today.  (Good Earth Village, 25303 Old Town Drive, Spring Valley, MN 55975.

Suggestion Box

Your elected leaders feel that the suggestion box is not as effective at enabling an open dialog of communication as it was originally intended.  And because of this, we are going to discontinue use of the suggestion box and focus on improving the direct communication of the congregation and the church council.  If you have any ideas or suggestions to help improve things here at GSC, please share them with one of your elected council members.  The names of the council members, along with a photo and contact information are posted on the bulletin board in the narthex.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Douglas Tollefson, GSLC President
