Your pictures are needed

Do you have photos of GSC events?  We need activity pictures to add to our photo directory.  We need either glossy (not matte) photos or high quality digital photos on CD.  Please drop off pictures in the office.

Pictorial Directory

Good Shepherd is updating its Pictorial Directory and we’d truly like you to be a part of this exciting program!

We’ve added an online registration from our church website. It’s fast, easy and convenient.  You can make your appointment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Here’s how it works:

1. Go to the website, www.goodshepherdchurch.net

            2. Click on the church directory icon

            3. Follow directions to the right

Note: If you include you email address, you will get both a confirmation and reminder email of your appointment.  You can rest assured that your email address is never given out to anyone. Registration will also be available at the church during this weekend’s services.  During that time, the online sign-up will be disabled.  Online sign-ups will then resume on Monday, October 16.

Make A Difference Day

Are you up for a day of difference making?  Come rake yards with us on Saturday, October 28th.  We’ll meet at church at 7:30am and finish with a pizza at Think Credit Union at 1pm.  Mark you calendars now.

Lutsen Ski Trip Meeting

Due to popular demand we’re heading back to Lutsen Mountains for this year’s High School Ski Trip; same great skiing with great people and more space this year as our lodging accommodations are in a 3-story condominium.  If you are interested come to our important kick-off meeting at 6pm on Sunday, October 15th in the youth room.

Confirmation Webpage

Parents, this week in Confirmation your students received information and a log-in for the Confirmation webpage (www.hwsstudent.org).  Not only does this site have a lot of features that students should enjoy but it also will be a tool to keep you informed of upcoming events and will be the main medium for student make-up work.  Please check with your student regarding this information and look for a parents’ letter.

Runway 36 Concert!

There will be no Youth Group this week on Wednesday, October 11th because we’re heading over to Bethel Church for the Runway 36 concert.  The show starts at 7pm.  If you are in 7th & 8th Grade Confirmation we meet at church at 6pm for Simple Supper and we’ll head over together.  Back to church around 8:30pm.  www.r36rock.com

Pledge Forms

If you have not dropped off your pledge forms yet, there is still time to do so.  You can mail your form to the church office, or complete one of the forms available in the Narthex and place it in the box provided.

Suggestion Box

Open communication between congregation members, church council, committees, and staff is vital to the health of our congregation.  Communication helps to hold our church family together.  Your elected leaders feel that the suggestion box is not as effective at enabling an open dialog of communication as it was originally intended.  And because of this, we are going to discontinue use of the suggestion box and focus on improving the direct communication of the congregation and the church council.

If you have any ideas or suggestions to help improve things here at GSC, please share them with one of your elected council members.  The names of the council members, along with a photo and contact information are posted on the bulletin board in the narthex.  They would be happy to talk with you in-between services or you can give them a call and talk with them at other times as well.  We will also be continuing to look for other ways that we can improve communication within our church family.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Douglas Tollefson, GSLC President

Young Adult Small Groups Starting!

Good Shepherd is launching one or two faith/life discussion small groups for people in their 20’s and 30’s.  We will watch short films, have discussions, make faith and life connections, eat food and hang out.  Are you interested?  Please contact Mark Hannan or Pastor Dave at the church office.

Hurricane Cleanup Trip

Some of you have been asking about an opportunity to go south to work with Lutheran Disaster Response in the hurricane cleanup effort. Here is the opportunity we have put together. Good Earth Village is organizing a group to go from November 11-19. We will be going to Slidell, La. where we will be hosted by Peace Lutheran Church. Cost is $250/person and covers all expenses. Pastor Jack and Ruth Friedli have been asked to lead the group. Contact Ruth Friedli at 288-1471 to sign up.

Congratulations!

● Lisa and Alex Deerborn on the birth of their son Max.

● Kevin and Lindsey Kirkeby on the birth of their daughter Kiah.

Lutheran Women Today Bible Study

A few women have been gathering on a designated Monday each month at the home of Loretta and Wally Berglund for fellowship and study.  The group uses the study from the Lutheran Woman Today magazine.  This month, the meeting will be on Oct. 30 at 6:30pm.  Please watch the Happynings and Bulletins to find out the date and time for each month’s meeting.  October’s study is “A God of Relationship.”  The Berglund’s address is 3504 Fairway Ridge Lane, Apt. 206 (near the intersection of West Circle Drive and 2nd St. SW).  If you have any questions, contact Sheryl Nassif 289-0129, Mary Olson 529-1314 or Sharon Cadwell 288-7064.
