Annual Picnic: Sunday, Sept. 10
Mark your calendars to come out to Good Shepherd on Sunday, September 10 for the Annual
GSLC Pignic. Delicious food will be provided
by Bob’s Smokestack Ribs. There will
also be a DJ and plenty of outdoor games to enjoy. The fun begins at 5:00pm, so be sure to
attend. GSLC is also looking for some
help to make this event a success. If you could help in Setup (arrive at
4:30pm), Serving, Clean Up or Bringing Bars, please sign up on the form in the
Narthex or by calling Mike in the church office at 289-1748.
Join us this Sunday in the GSLC Sanctuary at 9:30am to begin a new
year! Our congregation is very fortunate

Sunday School starts, the Confirmation ministry is up and running,
choirs are in full swing, our new worship schedule begins, The Big Pig roast is going on...
things are happening here at GSC!

Atmosphere:
High School Sunday AM
Do you have that nagging feeling that you were created to be
more than you are. Come to a weekly time
of discussion, food, and friends that uses a range of movies, TV shows, and
short films paired with the Bible to dive into what it means to be alive... in
God’s Atmosphere. 9:30 on Sunday mornings
in the youth room. What Atmosphere are
you breathing?
Walk for a Cure
Walk or run on September 9th at 8am at Essex Park
in Rochester, MN. Join the group from
GSC as we to raise money for blood cancer research through the Multiple Myeloma
Charitable Foundation founded by Eve Friedli.
Drop by the office to pick up your sponsor sheet and registration
form. Registration fees: Adult $25,
Youth (13-18) $15, Child (<12) $0.

7th
& 8th Grade:
Come and get the scoop on this year of Confirmation at the required
orientation meeting on Wednesday, September 6th from 5:30 –
6:30pm. We’ll go over the program, the
schedule, the expectations, hand out important things, and then have ice cream.
9th Grade. Meets at 9:30am on Sunday mornings. 1st gathering is for parents and
youth on Rally Sunday, September 10 in our classroom in the fellowship hall at
9:30.
10th Grade. Kickoff is for students, parents, and mentors
on Rally Sunday, September 10 at 12pm in the fellowship hall. Students are invited to Atmosphere, 9:30 in
the youth room, which will be an expected part of their two months before
confirmation.

you play, sing, hum, whistle or compose?
There are lots of opportunities for youth interested in music here at
Good Shepherd. GSC has two kids’ choirs,
a youth choir and a youth band and lots of opportunities for providing special
music during a worship service or church event.

Habitat
for Humanity
Good Shepherd’s next habitat day
is Saturday, September 23rd.
Come from 9-4pm and lend your hand at building a home. Sign-up in the narthex. Stop by the youth webpage (www.gscyouth.com) and see some of our
pictures from two work days at the Youth United house.
For
the past several years elementary aged kids
(K-5) have taken part in Starlights – a Wednesday night activity. We would like to have a meeting to discuss
the future of this program including discussion about volunteers, staffing,
participation, curriculum and desired outcomes.
If you have an interest in the future of Starlights, please mark your
calendar for the following open discussion and brainstorm session:

Just
a reminder that the Sunday schedule at Good Shepherd changes to its fall times
this Sunday, September 10th. Worship
services will be held at 8:15 and 10:45am, while the Education Hour will begin
at 9:30am.
Announcing the 2nd annual GSC
fashion extravaganza!! This event hosted
by the Senior High Women will be Sunday, September 17th following 2nd
Service. We will eat Pizza, have a shopping
outing at Old Navy return to Good Shepherd to get GLAM and have our fashion
show at 2:30. Cost is $25 for Pizza, pop, hair supplies and $20 to spend
at Old Navy. This event is for students grades 2-7.
