Hymn Sing on Sunday, July 16

Join us at 9:20am this Sunday for a hymn sing!  Come early in order to sing one of your favorite hymns from the Lutheran Book of Worship.

WILD WEDNESDAYS

Mark your calendars now to attend the Wild Wednesday activities on July 12 and 19 at 6:00pm here at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  On July 12, the theme will be “Bring Your Own Picnic.”  Make sure to bring your own picnic and your swimsuit!  We will have the GSLC waterslide set up, as well as many other water activities to enjoy.  Our new lead pastor Dave Berg will be in attendance on July 19.  We will have the grills fired up cooking lots of hot dogs and burgers with all the fixins’.  We supply the meat; you bring a potluck side dish.  Pastor Dave will be there anxious to get to know all of you.

Music

Can You Help?  Beginning in September, the Senior Choir is in need of an accompanist.  This involves a Wednesday night rehearsal and playing an anthem for services, approximately three Sundays each month.  A modest honorarium is provided.  Please call Cynthia McLaren, Director of Music (289-1748) for more information.

Sunday School

Sunday School and Computer Lab: We are in need of a few Sunday School teachers and Computer Lab assistants for the 2006-07 school year.  This is a great opportunity to get to know our youth and guide them in their faith development.  Materials are provided.  Check the colorful board in the Narthex, or call Cynthia at 289-1748 to volunteer.

Race/Walk for the Cure!

It's time to start thinking about participating in the 2006 MMCF 5K Race/Walk for the Cure!  You can register on-line this year.  Log on to http://www.mmcf.org/2006_walk-run.htm  and click on "ONLINE REGISTRATION".  Register now and save $5.

It's not too early to start seeking donations from friends, family, and co-workers.  This year, a generous portion of the proceeds will be donated to Mayo Clinic for blood cancer research.  Our goal is $20,000.  That's twice what we raised last year.  I know with your help we can achieve and even surpass that goal!

If you don't want to participate in the event (or can't due to scheduling difficulties), but would like to seek donations from friends, family, and co-workers, we would be very happy to accept your donations.  You can log on to www.mmcf.org/2006_walk-run.htm and either click on "DONATE ONLINE" to donate yourself, or print a copy of the registration form to be able to solicit donations.

The more money we raise, the more we can help people in this community living with myeloma, lymphoma, leukemia, and other blood diseases.  Without you this event can't be successful.

Thank you, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me.

Are you crafty?

GSLC is “crafting” up a new small group.  For all of those interested in any sort of craft, some join the newly formed crafters small group on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at 7 PM.  For this first official gathering, bring a project you are working on. (We will do a “show and tell” with everyone’s craft to learn what others are working on).  We will also discuss projects for upcoming gatherings.

Running Start

We will be collecting school supplies at a table in the narthex for children in Olmsted Co. that are in need.  Dates for collection are July 23, 30 and Aug. 6th.
