Dorothy Day CFR IHN Habitat

Dorothy Day House is Rochester's primary homeless shelter. Good Shepherd Church has served supper there every Tuesday, for decades. Four households each week bring a portion of the meal, for about 20 people, and help serve. Sixty people are on our list of volunteers who take turns providing.

You Made it Possible! During 2004, the generous and caring folk of Rochester enabled the all-volunteer staff of the Dorothy Day Hospitality House to provide a haven for 889 guests (including 101 females, 16 families with 27 children). They stayed 5,792 nights, an average of 6.5. They consumed 17,118 meals.

Dorothy Day co-founded the Catholic Worker Movement in 1933.

Dorothy Day House needs: Toilet paper, hand towels, garbage bags, deodorant, alarm clocks, 9V batteries, small detergent. Drop them off at GSC.
